Season 3 UPDATE! DAMMIT WB

By Corey Floyd

Last year I gave you guys a gift of good news as a  Christmas Eve gift and gave you a update on Young Justice. With confirmed info from show producer Greg Weisman. Let me guess didn’t see it? That’s okay here ya go   http://amerimemedia.blogspot.com/2016/12/young-justice-season-3.html?view=snapshot. Well I have some news for you. Last season it was called Young Justice: Invasion this time it’s Young Justice: Outsiders. The story will be about the trafficking of meta-humans and using them as weapons. Here the dumb side of the story. Now if you read the last piece you will recall how I theorized it would be shown on Netflix since the site has been showing the series and making it more popular to the point that now a third season is upon us. Sad to say they have decided to go a alternate route. Warner Brothers has  announced a streaming service which Season three will be a flagship program on it, There will also be a live action Teen Titans show on the cite. So far I that's all they have announced for this service. This is a very bad move on their part. So now they expect people to pay for ANOTHER streaming service. I mean we have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime, Crunchyroll, and now you want people to chuck out more money for your streaming service?

This a huge slap in the face to Netflix in my opinion. If it wasn’t for Netflix streaming the first 2 seasons keeping it popular and relevant as well as expanding its fan base further we would not be talking about a season 3. I believe this is a very greedy move on Warner Bros. behalf and I think it will come back to bite them harder than  the last Green Lantern Movie.

While I’m here I want to bring attention to the potential writers strike. A good number of you folks out there might not remember the strike of  2007-2008. But a lot of great shows didn’t survive or just were not the same Wizards of waverly place canned. Chuck got chucked, Pushing Daisies  ended up daisies. Most of you don’t think it affected you but if you had a issue with X-men origins: Wolverine, GI Joe :rise of Cobra, Transformers rise of the fallen. The biggest fail was Dragaonball Evolution.

Fox had originally had to rush a property in development hell before the strike happened so the company could lie to investors making sure that their summer returns were not just reliant on Wolverine. We all know how that turned out. What can we do about it? Well we are more interactive with them now more than ever. Get on their twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram let them know how you feel stand by your writer.  Message the production companies to give the writers what they need so we all can have a great time in film and television.

Who needs a reboot? Part 2

By Corey Floyd

Reboots?!  Whether or not you like them they are here and show no sign of leaving. If you have been following me you should recall I’ve talked about this before. You haven’t seen that one? Well http://amerimemedia.blogspot.com/2017/02/who-needs-reboot-part-1.html?view=magazine. Your back? Great, anyway i am going to continue on this journey down reboot road because there are a few films that could definitely use a fresh coat of paint for a new audience. I think these titles could definitely do the trick.

It has been 13 years since we have seen Blade. No, I do not count that failed attempt at a TV show with Sticky Fingers as Blade (shudders). When the first Blade movie came out in 1998 we most of us have no idea it was a comic book movie as well as its sequel and Wesley Snipes flourished as the vicious anti-hero. Recently the rights of the character have returned to Marvel but there's no talk about what they are doing with him. Last year they added Ghost Rider to Agents of Shield and it worked out really well. But I don’t think that would do him Justice. I also don’t believe that movies would be in his future either. The first 2 films were very dark, violent, sexual, and extremely Bloody. He is the type of character you cannot water down for the current MCU. This makes me want to see the show as a Netflix original series. This could work they don’t have to abandon their style. Keep it as violent as it was before plus a team up with Daredevil sounds awesome in my head. But at 54 I don’t think Snipes will be up to working at today’s pace. I could be wrong.

Recently Mortal Kombat had an online series that was very good. Of course, it was overshadowed by the stellar game series. But the series showed that it can be done right if you get the right people. There has been talk around the industry that someone has been writing a script but I haven’t found anything concrete. Just the name Dave Callaham. He wrote the Expendables and DOOM (shudders). Hopefully, that is just a rumor. But seriously the web series gave a great story and better fight choreography than Iron Fist. In the right hands, you can make this a respectable film franchise. I could see Lions Gate producing it. Think The Raid meets Saw. Flawless Victory Indeed.

Yup! I said it The Mask. It has been 23 years since the surprise box office hit has been in theaters. (No Son of Mask does not count!!) Clearly, in the right hands, you can have a hit. This time around I think it’s time to bring the story back to its ultra-violent roots. As much as I and the rest of the world enjoyed the more family oriented Mask of old I’ve been itching to see the real Mask from the comics. Believe it or not, the differences are not that extreme just think of a Mask scene from the movie but at the end of his antics, the person is dead. I can see Neil Patrick Harris as Stanley Ipkiss or Eddie Redmayne (Fantastic Beasts). Since he has the loveable face and he has played very lovable characters as of late it would be an interesting turn . If the follow the narrative of the comic. You're in for a completely different story

WHAT'S ON THE HORIZON?

By Corey Floyd
Over the past few weeks, we have been bombarded with movie trailers. There is no doubt that each of them will be rolling in dough, but it makes me think well what’s next? I know there’s no trailer for it yet but I know it’s coming. After this, you will too. If you don’t know what’s going on in our cover photo let me fill you in. These are just a few of the new faces in the next Kingsman movie. Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, and recent recipient of a star on the walk of fame Jeff Bridges. They gave us a teaser trailer yesterday if you haven’t seen it yet https://youtu.be/93LSJWrL8DY there ya go. No idea what the story is but i do know these three stars are part of an American group called the Statesman. I really enjoyed the first movie I’m excited to see what next.

Back in 2013, Guillermo Del Toro gave us a simple childhood fantasy of giant robots fighting giant monsters and looking cool while doing it in Pacific Rim. It’s been four years and in 2018 it be back. The film is called Pacific Rim: Uprising. Del Toro wrote and produced but will not be directing. Steven DeKnight will be directing. This will be his first theatrical outing as a director. But his career in television does give me confidence. He has been an executive producer on Smallville, Dollhouse (which was criminally underrated), and a season a Netflix’s Daredevil. Now Charlie Hunnam will not be returning but we will have John Boyega (Star Wars 7&*8) and Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad) as main characters. I think as long as we have more badass robots fighting more giant monsters everything will be ok.

Last but not Tomb Raider. A few years ago a reboot to the Tomb Raider game franchise landed giving us a younger Croft and a grittier world. Needless to say, it was a hit. After putting out 2 hit games the movie studios started to think “hey a reboot could work here too”. Our new Lara Croft is being played by Alicia Vikander. This 2016 Academy Award winner will be playing the lead.First time I saw her was in Ex- Machina as Ava and I loved her in the man from U.N.C.L.E. What worries me more than anything is the director and writer. Director Roar Uthaug does not have many movies under his belt. His only successful I heard of is The Wave it had a budget of 6.1 million and grossed 11.5 so I guess that’s good, it also holds an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes so maybe he has the skill. The writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet only has one credited piece known and it was a short film. Meanwhile, they have been hired to write several big name productions in the future such as Gotham City Sirens, Dungeons and Dragons (eyes roll),  Sherlock Holmes 3 and M.A.S.K, not the green CGI mask I mean

. I Think I just lost confidence in video game movies again. But you never know then again remember the G.I JOE movies.

CAN BATGIRL SAVE THE DAY?!

By Corey Floyd
It was announced that DC had been reaching out to Joss Whedon to direct a Batgirl film. Joss Whedon for those who might not be in the know has been one of the biggest nerds of the 2000’s from 2 hit shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly. He also was at the helm for both Avenger movies. Off these titles alone I feel he is more than qualified. Hopefully he writes the movie as well because let’s be honest the DCEU biggest problem is writing and Zack Snyder. With that being, it also raises the question. Is Zack Snyder throne at DC in trouble? In my opinion he needs to step down. Watchmen and 300 were great don’t get me wrong but it’s been a pretty slippery slope since. BvS was at many points just plain terrible. I don’t about everyone else but I might go see Justice League on a Half price Tuesday. I think his stance has never really been solidified when it comes to doing films well so someone should at least show him how it's done.
Meanwhile back in the casting chair who should play the part? Well I do have a few Ideas. Okay let’s start with the obvious Emma Stone. Despite her winning an Oscar for a really crappy movie (LALA LAND) she has proven that she can act. She can funny, compelling, lovable and downright hated. She has proven her worth in films like “ZombieLand,” “Easy A,” “The Help” and “The Amazing Spider-man” plus she’s like the Number one draft pick in most of Hollywood’s eyes.
Another pick is Jane Levy. Some may know from her role as Mandy Malkovich in Shameless or Mia In the 2013 Evil dead remake. I get a Killing Joke vibe from her or from at least from what I’ve seen in her performances. I think she could do that character arc. But as for an intro movie, honestly, I’m not sure. But apparently, she has a huge fan base that thinks she can do it.
Zoe Kravitz is my third option. Now here at Amerime Media we like to give everyone a fair shot. So, if you think Batgirl can’t be black do let the door hit you in your ass on the way out. Zoe has shown that she is a star. She has been consistently working since 2007 and has been part of some big films, X-men First class, Insurgent, Mad Max Fury Road, The Lego Batman Movie, and Fantastic Beasts and where to find them. She is Everywhere and this is where she could go next. I believe she has the guts to wear the cape.
I would be an idiot If I left out Chloe Grace Moretz. She has proven time and time again that she can do it all. She has been working in the business since she was 7 and now at 20 she has already taken her career everywhere and back. She has been in kid projects such as Disney’s Bolt where she played a Young Penny. Then she has also played a tortured high school student with special powers in Carrie 2013 (the movie flopped but that’s because it’s been done too many times but it was actually a good film). Of course, most of you might know her has Hit Girl From the Kickass franchise so I guess seeing her as Batgirl just got a little easier. Those are my picks. Have some of your own? THOR RAGNAROK. HOLY S#!T!!
BY Corey Floyd

Okay guys! Lets not play around. The new Thor trailer dropped and it was awesome. I mean Justice what comes out when? I don’t care but I know come November I looking for three things Thanksgiving , Thor , and maybe some family time. In this almost 2 minute trailer we have a lot thrown at us so let me fill you in on what I can.
Now the woman who destroyed Mjolnir in the trailer is Hela ruler of the underworld or Asgard. She is being played be Cate Blanchett (Kaa from Jungle Book, Galadriel LOTR saga). This will be a new experience for the 2 time academy awards winning actress playing a God and the destroyer of Mjolnir can't wait to see what they have planned for her.

Also seen in the Trailer is the Infamous Valkyrie. An Asgardian warrior in charge of taking souls of great warriors  to Valhalla. She is being played by  Tessa Thompson. Tessa who has had a rollercoaster of a career dealing with doing a good job on failing projects. Lately she has been on the right side of things. With underdog cult hit “Dear white people “ and her portrayal of Charlotte Hale in Westworld I am certain she will be a great addition to the team. Also I hope they plan on keeping her around since she was a Avenger as well.

Of all the places I’ve seen him I had no words when I saw Jeff Goldblum in the trailer. For those who have no idea who he is please watch The Fly, Jurassic Park 1 & 2 , Independence Day and it sequel. He has been a pivotal actor in the sci fi genre for his whole career. It is only fitting that he bring his energy and wit to the sinister character of the Grandmaster. A evil alien Lord that kidnaps people for his own amusement. Karl Urban who has made us laugh as Hank McCoy in the Star Trek and made us respect the law as Judge Dredd crashes in this movie as the mohawk rocking machine gun blazing Executioner. Urban is a cinematic chameleon he has not let me down yet.

Of course all of favorite cast members are returning as well. Loki by the great Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba as Heimdall but to be honest he look like Bishop from X-men days of future past, and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Do I know what the movie is about? Not really but it take place During the Civil War back on earth. It looks like adaptations of Thor’s Ragnarok story and Planet Hulk’s comic story. How they will blend together for this movie? I honestly don’t know but it will be good  . Does it tie into the upcoming Infinity war? Oh yeah!  Do you think it will be better than Justice League?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7MGUNV8MxU I’m sorry what League? I’m not trying to bash on DC but they make it too easy. But seriously I’m glad they are not coming out at the same time.  I mean come on. World War HULK!!!??? Just take my money.

Teen Titans: The Judas Contract Review (Spoiler Free)

By Corey Floyd

The DCEU is stumbling along showing us a trailer for Justice League that looks good but. I’m skeptical fool me once (Batman V. Superman) shame on you, fool me twice (Suicide Squad) shame on me. I will hold my breath on their live action, but I’m always up for more of their animated universe. Teen Titans: The Judas Contract is the latest animated film from DC featuring the younger heroes of the universe. Teen Titans has been used a training ground for future Justice league members.
Most younger viewers might remember from its popular TV show from  2003. This movie is very far away from the show you watched back then. It actually lines up with the continuity of the rest of their animated films except “Assault on Arkham”. It follows their current roster of Blue Beetle, Beast Boy, Terra,  Robin ( Damien Wayne) , Nightwing and Starfire. The story centers around the team’s newest member Terra voiced by Christina Ricci(Wednesday Adam’s), as the newest member she is struggling with dealing with a team dynamic as well as Beast Boy crushing over her.
But there is also  sinister plot going on involving our favorite DC mercenary Deathstroke voiced by the recently deceased Miguel Ferrer. Some of you may recognize him as the Voice of Vandal Savage in Young Justice. The film is directed by Sam Liu who has been directing the last few animated outings The Killing Joke, Justice League vs. Teen Titans, and the surprisingly good Justice League: Gods & Monsters. I urge you guys to go out and pick this one up it is a keeper.
They even bring up one the the creepiest angles when it comes to Deathstroke's character and the guy hes working for is an old Baddie with a way better look. Who is it? Well if you go out and pick up your copy and you will find out . Final Grade:A

Oh……………….. By the way here’s a sneak preview of BATMAN & HARLEY Sam Liu next project https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QpTNl2wkaU

Making America Schwifty Again

By Corey Floyd

On April first one of the greatest, April Fools pranks had occurred and it was so wild we at Amerime were arguing with each other about it being real. An alert came up on adult swim's website and I went to it and it said Rick & Morty season 3 Episode 1 watch now. It being April 1st naturally I thought Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland ( show creators if you didn’t know) were gonna Troll us which is natural. So I closed my computer and ignored the bait. Until I looked on Facebook and it was everywhere. When I saw it was 22 minutes long I was holy crap it’s real so I go to tell my friends and their response was “ha ha very funny it doesn’t come out for months. Well then let me review the episode. Rick and Morty return for a surprise season one premiere having Rick still locked up in Intergalactic prison and the rest of the family is adjusting to their new alien integrated lifestyle on earth. Now, this still has not been seen by a lot of fans so NO Spoilers!!! But I can say this we get a deeper look into rick and find out that he has a very dark and petty side to him.  Plus the hunger for the sauce is real.

The Venom Conspiracy!! (Amerime Exclusive)

By Corey Floyd
Last week or so I wrote on the upcoming Venom movie by Sony. I expressed my skepticism on it really happening and as well as its release date which has been announced to be October of 2018. If you haven’t it check it out here http://amerimemedia.blogspot.com/2017/03/venom-2018-im-not-buying-it.html?view=magazine . Okay are you back? Good cause cause now I think there is something way more sinister going on and I’m not talking about the sinister six. I think this is a huge scam or perhaps the implosion of Sony pictures. I say Implosion because there is an internal element that that has already caused so much drama and damage. How many of you know who Tom Rothman is? It’s ok if you don’t that’s why I’m here. In the early and mid 2000’s he was the head of 20th century fox and was responsible for more than a few tragedies. Since Bryan singer choose to do Superman Returns instead of X-men 3 ( a crime all on its own) Rothman decided to go ahead with X-men with a rough draft script that was far from completion giving unneeded time to secondary characters resulting in that disaster of a film. He also NEVER wanted the sentinels to be the bad guys in the original X-men Trilogy. Something that definitely should have been a thing. Cause it was originally written in part 2 he shot it down and then it was shot down again by him for the third installment. He was also involved with making changes to X- Men origins wolverine from scenes tempering all the way down to digital editing. He was also behind the bad Fantastic Four movies , okay but after seeing that shitty attempt at a reboot those movies look more like Citizen Kane now. He was also the reason it took so long to do a Deadpool film. Now he at Sony attempting to push out a Venom, Black Cat and Silver Sable film without Spider-man and the MCU? Is it me or does this guy not like superhero movies.
Let’s talk about the money. By the end of 2016 Sony pictures was at a profit loss of up to $915 million dollars. How you may ask? Their biggest movie last year was Ghostbusters. It earned $229 million dollars in the box office which sounds go at first glance. But when you factor in a $144 million dollar budget with unknown millions into the marketing and promotions they walk away with a 70 million dollar loss. Their second one was Angry Birds which barely made $100 million dollars and Sausage Party didn’t even make that much at all. The year before their best was Spectre which isn’t saying much it made $100 million less than the one before it. There has not been an announcement for another Bond movie on top of that it is still unclear whether Daniel Craig will return or not. The only Franchise they have is Spider-Man unless they have another adventure for Paul Blart.

If that’s the case why hire a man that clearly likes to destroy the things we love? Now here’s the magic trick. What if all this talk. I s just to get Investors to stay confident in Sony Pictures. So confident that not only do the not pull out their money but they invest more. They are so confident just because it is a comic book movie that they put more money into the company blindly. Sending up the company's price so they can actually sell it for way more than what it’s worth.  This is a crazy time for Sony. What I’ve written is a theory that is very sound but I am certain we won’t be seeing Venom in 2018. At least not without Spider-man.
